Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon 2013

Last weekend SWISSMAN Xtreme Triathlon 2013 winner Markus Stierli added another big success to his sports career: he won the 11th edition of the Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon at the top of the Norwegian mountain Gaustatoppen. He finished the race in 11:25:16h and could leave his competitors behind him. All athletes had to fight with the special Norwegian elements: fog, headwind and rain made the race even harder.

The Norseman is like the SWISSMAN a very special race because of the difficult track with climbs, the finish at a steep mountain and the uncomfortable weather. The winner, X-BIONIC® athlete Markus Stierli, mentioned after the race: “The Isklar Norseman was the perfect race for me . Wet, cold and lots of wind” –  Congratulations Markus!

One of the hardest Ironman competitions started on Saturday 22nd of June 2013 in Ascona (CH): The SWISSMAN Xtreme Triathlon. A regular triathlon over 3,8/180/42 kilometers is hard enough, but if you have a look at the SWISSMAN´s race course, you understand the additional name Xtreme Triathlon.

The start to the race was at 5 am in the early morning and began with the swim part in the Lago Maggiore near Ascona. After the 3,8 kilometers the athletes started their cycling leg over 180 kilometers. The start of the cycling part was located at 196m above sea level and passed it´s highest point on 2436m above sea level at the Furkapass. Until the athletes arrived the transition zone to their running part, they will have gained lots of elevation.

The final run track was another big effort: starting from 567m above sea level the finishing line at the Kleine Scheidegg is located at 2061m above sea level. Due to the hard race course, every finisher will be a winner. Beginning with the start, you can follow all athletes live with the tracker. You can also check out the official roadbook for this event to see the schedule. With X-BIONIC® the SWISSMAN got a reliable partner for the official outfits.

Emma Pooley, World Champion 2010 and Olympic Silver Medalist, Beijing 2008 in Time Trial: “SWISSMAN is a supremely challenging race in the most beautiful setting possible. A course like that is my dream come true! I’m so glad to be able to take part, and really”looking forward to it.

Dag Oliver, General Manager Norseman Xtreme Triathlon: “Norseman Xtreme Triathlon’s reputation as the ultimate triathlon has always been down to our love of the sport. Norseman is happy to welcome SWISSMAN into our family of events that honor the basic values of triathlon; unique experiences, true competition, a friendly atmosphere and spectacular surroundings.”
