The Red Bull Air Race in Spielberg last weekend close to the home of X-BIONIC® athlete Hannes Arch was a real thriller. The Formula 1 race track was sold out and lots of fans came to see the final race of the World Championship. Hannes Arch showed a great performance during the qualifying and was the top candidate for the title.
Because of his his good qualifying flight Hannes started from the last position in the final four round and the title was closer than ever before. But during his final lap he made a small mistake and earned a two second penalty from the jury. With this additional time Hannes lost his chance for a victory in Spielberg and also the fight for the title. This was a real disappointing result for him, but he is already looking forward to the next season:
“I am really disappointed. It was a very close final with a big chance for me. I was quite fast and knew how to fly the course, but in my last turn I could not serve a good result. The huge crowd of fans help me and give me a good feeling. We are already motivated for the next year. But my second rank in the World Championship is a good result for me. At least I could leave my biggest rival Paul Bonhomme behind me and this is also a worthy result.”
